I may have control issues.
I always need to know how things work, and the “why?”, and the “who figured that out?” It sometimes drains the wonder out of things.
I don’t need to know the details necessarily, but a knowledge of the principles keeps me comfortable.
Take flying for instance, I have trust issues with flying, so much so that I ended up “having” to take flying lessons to lessen my anxiety. I needed to know just what was going on, a blanket trust is something I’m not good at.
So when I see things like movies with “magic and sorcery” (I see you Star Wars and Harry Potter), I get stuck in the “how and why and who figured it out?” This is to the point that I sometimes lose the plot.
I mean what the heck?
Who woke up one day, pointed at a rock and turned it into a cat? Sheesh!
So forgive me, if I take the more solid teachings of religion, like universal brotherhood and sisterhood, loving one another, forgiveness, caring for each other, and so on, over the spooky mystical “seven headed lion” stuff.
Love preached by a universal being (I’ll figure that one out one day, maybe when I meet them) is more comforting than vengeful hellfire and the “prayers equal miracles” thing.
I just don’t know how that works.
